Opposition
Leader to attend Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair district forum
Opposition Leader Yvonne Jones will be in the
Labrador Straits tomorrow to participate in a district forum that will
discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the south coast of
Labrador. Jones will be joined by business and community leaders from the
district of Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair, along with representatives from
government.
“This district forum will allow our region to
highlight the opportunities and challenges that we have faced over the
past couple of years,” said Ms. Jones. “There will be government
representatives, business people and community leaders who have unique and
differing perspectives on how to accomplish new growth, while dealing with
the economic and development challenges that we face on a continuous
basis. I am hopeful that these types of discussion forums allow a better
understanding of our situation and a recognition of what needs to be done
to bring about positive change.”
Jones will be making a presentation to the forum on
Wednesday morning providing an overview of each community, the challenges
that have been faced, and the economic opportunities available in each
sector of the region’s economy.
“There have been many positive stories in our
district that must be recognized, but we cannot forget the challenges that
must be overcome if we are to grow as a region. I am hopeful that those in
attendance, especially government representatives, will gain a greater
knowledge of the issues facing our communities through these
discussions.”
