Infrastructure announcements for southern
Labrador will benefit communities
Today’s announcement of four projects for south
coast Labrador communities will be of great benefit to the region, says
Opposition Leader Yvonne Jones, MHA for the District of
Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair.
In a joint federal/provincial press conference this
morning, four projects were approved for the District of
Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair. These projects included upgrading Route 500
Pinware River Road, water and sewer upgrades in the Town of Charlottetown,
water and sewer upgrades in the Town of Port Hope Simpson, and upgrades to
the water system in Mary’s Harbour. The total expenditure of these
projects is estimated at over $9 million.
“I have lobbied to have these projects in my district
approved for several years,” said Ms. Jones. “I am pleased that both
levels of government have recognized the importance of these initiatives
and have approved the necessary funding. Roads and water and sewer
upgrades are very necessary in this region of our province and I will
continue to lobby to have further projects approved so the people of
southern Labrador have access to quality infrastructure.”
