Statement on Cougar Helicopter tragedy
The following statement was issued by Opposition
Leader Yvonne Jones on the Cougar Helicopter tragedy.
“The tragic crash of a Cougar Helicopter with 18
people on board has left the people of the province, and the country, in
shock and sorrow.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and
friends of those affected by this tragedy. As Newfoundlanders and
Labradorians we are all impacted when a family member, friend and
neighbour is involved in such a tragic event. We will again come together
as a community and a province to provide our support during this difficult
time.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and
friends of the victim who has been recovered from the crash site, and our
prayers go to Mr. Decker who is recovering in hospital and the 16 people
who are still missing. We can only hope that more survivors will be
found.”
