Opposition Leader to attend Combined Councils of
Labrador meeting
Opposition Leader Yvonne Jones will be in Northwest
River today, Friday, March 13th, and Saturday, March 14th to
attend the Combined Councils of Labrador meeting.
“The Combined Councils of Labrador always bring
issues of importance to the public agenda and I look forward to
participating in these discussions,” said Ms. Jones. “With the House
of Assembly opening next week, the concerns that are brought forward over
the next couple of days will certainly find its way into the legislature
for debate.”
Jones will be participating in a panel discussion on
Labrador issues and says she looks forward to hearing comments regarding
government’s announced infrastructure investment and what it means to
Labrador communities; the impact of the proposed Lower Churchill
development; petroleum pricing on the coast of Labrador; and the impact of
the economic downturn on the mining industry in western and northern
Labrador.
